How can brands innovate using green materials? What ingredients can help manufacturers move to circular systems? What are the opportunities with upcycled ingredients? From 7th to 9th November, cosmetic brand owners, academics, retailers, distributors, and other stakeholders related to the beauty industry, will address these questions at the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit, which will take place in Paris (France.)
NATRUE at Sustainable Cosmetics Summit
A growing array of green materials is now available for cosmetic and personal care products. During the first day of the event, Dr. Mark Smith, NATRUE Director General, will moderate part of the session entitled “Green Ingredients”, which includes a suit of presentations that will give details of the new and emerging green ingredients, with emphasis on those that can help companies move to circular systems.
Upcycling is a major trend, with many companies looking to waste streams as a source of new ingredients. By reusing or repurposing natural resources as much as possible, cosmetic companies can help reduce our impact on the environment by supporting a more circular beauty that is good for our skin and for the planet.
NATRUE is a partner of one of these companies: the EU-funded industry consortium initiative URBIOFIN. The project, which is currently in its final stages aims to transform the organic part of municipal solid waste into biobased products, including product packaging, in order to move towards a more sustainable bioeconomy.
Sustainable Beauty Awards 2022
After this session, Dr. Smith will join the judging panel for the 2022 Sustainable Beauty Awards, a ceremony that will be hosted alongside the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit. The aim of the awards is to give recognition to organisations pushing the boundaries of sustainability in the beauty industry. The winners will be announced at a dedicated awards ceremony on 7th November. The list of finalists can be found here.
