NATRUE

Do consumers really know what they are buying? In a context where there is no European regulation that defines what the adjectives ‘natural’, ‘ecological’ or ‘vegan’ mean when it comes to cosmetics, how to avoid being cheated? NATRUE will give you some tips during the next edition of BioCultura, the trade fair for Organic Products and Responsible Consumption that will take place from 3rd to 6th November in Madrid (Spain.)

NATRUE at BioCultura
On Friday, 4th November at 12.45h, Paula Gómez de Tejada, Communications Officer of NATRUE, together with Núria Alonso, Director of BioVidaSana, will address the following topic: “Natural, ecológico y vegano. ¿Es Certificación todo lo que reluce?” (Natural, organic and vegan. All that glitters is not certification.).

European regulation provides a strong framework for essential aspects such as product safety, but there is no official definition that can unambiguously pinpoint when claims like natural and organic might be authentic or misleading. The consumer cannot always make the clear distinction between genuinely natural cosmetics (for example those that are certified with a label) and nature-inspired cosmetics (an undefined mixture of natural and synthetic ingredients), which runs the risk that they will be misled. Another consequence of this regulatory gap is the growing risk of greenwashing. What can we do to address this situation? Come to our talk to discover those tips!
